Community commitment

Giving Back to Our Communities

OMHAS donates two per cent of our income to local charities and two per cent to international causes, and we provide health and safety consultation at no cost to non-profit organisations and houses of worship.
Why we do this

Safety should not depend on a budget

Being charitable, faith-based or community-serving does not automatically place an organisation outside workplace health and safety law. Where an organisation employs workers or contracts for services, legal responsibilities may apply.
Paid staff and volunteers can also face very real hazards: ladders, kitchens, cleaning chemicals, lifting, lone work and interactions with the public.
What these organisations usually do not have is anyone whose job it is to think about that. Budgets go to the mission, and health and safety waits until something goes wrong.
So we do that part for them, and we do not charge for it.

What we give

Who this is for

Organisations that serve others

If your organisation is sustained primarily through donations, grants or volunteer service rather than profit, you may be eligible for support through this program.
Each request is reviewed individually based on need, location, operational complexity and our available capacity. If we cannot responsibly provide the support requested, we will tell you clearly and, where possible, help point you toward another suitable resource.

Houses of worship

Mosques, churches, temples and synagogues, including the volunteers who run kitchens, maintenance and events.

Community organisations

Non-profit community centres, youth programs, settlement services and similar organisations serving the public.

Support may include

What you receive

The Same Professional Standard Within an Agreed Scope

We do not lower the quality of our work because it is provided without charge. Every assessment, document and recommendation must still be accurate, practical and professionally defensible.
Before work begins, we agree with you on what OMHAS can responsibly provide. The scope will reflect your organisation’s activities, hazards, size, location and immediate needs. Some organisations may require an initial assessment and priority documents, while more complex needs may be addressed in stages.

We will be clear about what is included, what remains your organisation’s responsibility and what may require additional or specialized support.

How it works

Four steps, with no fee for the support OMHAS agrees to provide

Step 1

You tell us about your organisation

Complete the form below. It takes a few minutes and there is no obligation.

Step 2

We talk it through

A short conversation so we understand what you do, who is involved and where the risks sit.

Step 3

We assess and build

We walk your premises, identify the hazards and prepare the policy and programs your operation requires.

Step 4

We hand it over and explain it

You receive the documents and we walk your people through them, so the system is used rather than filed.

We protect the privacy and dignity of every organisation we support. We do not publish their names, their circumstances or details of the work completed for them. This work is done to be useful, not to be displayed.

Request support

Tell us about your organisation

There is no fee for the support included in the scope agreed with OMHAS, and there is no obligation simply for submitting a request. Complete the form and we will be in touch within two business days.
If you would rather talk first, call us on (226) 781-7154. We are happy to answer questions before you commit to anything.

Good to know

If your organisation serves others, let us serve you

Ask, and if we can help, we will.
